The unfortunate part of the problem is that most shelters are full and unless an animal is remarkably lucky and can live in the shelter environment they're often destroyed if they're not adopted or if they have some sort of problem when they come in which in most cases they do. In most cases, saving an animal comes down to money and with such a high demand on helping animals who have gone through abuse and neglect there are a lot of cases where the money just simply isn't there. That's where I want to make a difference and that's what I'm vowing to do over the course of the next month and a half.
At places like New Life Animal Rescue, animals are rescued and often require surgery, like the chocolate lab I talked to you about on Friday. I should also mention that New Life fosters their animals in a home. They don't believe a boarding kennel is a place for a loving pet. In order for them to perform what in some cases is a life saving surgery they need money and as a shelter the only way they get that money is from us, the people who donate. I'm an animal lover and I want to do my part to help out. If an animal doesn't get the required surgery once they've been rescued they're sometimes disposed of because nobody will adopt them. The less cases of that we see, the better. I feel very strongly about this issue and as a dog owner I know the difference a dog can make in ones life. When you walk through the door after a long day they're the first to greet you wagging their tail. A dog will never let you down, most animals won't, and I'm not going to let them down.
Over the next month and a half I'm going to be raising money through sponsor proceeds for New Life Animal Rescue. 100% of my sponsor proceeds will be donated directly to the shelter and every dollar goes straight to the animals for veterinary care and to get them ready for adoption. On top of this, because I feel so strongly about the issue, I'll match the final amount. In other words, if together we can raise $100, I'll donate $100 out of my pocket to the cause and send a $200 check. Currently, there are six options to advertise your blog or website. I have very reasonable rates ranging from $2 to $30 per ad space depending on the size you're looking for. To make life easier, I'm also offering 10% off as part of the promotion by using the code NEWLIFE at checkout. Check beneath 'Favorites' on the left side of my blog regularly to see how much we've raised for New Life on the thermometer.

Hi Nathan! Thanks so much for dropping by and following! I'm already a follower of your blog! What an awesome cause. We lost our beloved Maximus(a boxer) 4 years ago due to a snake bite he received on our farm.(sigh) We got him when he was six weeks old and he was a part of our family for eight years. He was such a special dog...I still find it hard. We got a rescue English Mastiff(about two years ago, but had to give her back, because we moved). Dogs are very near and dear to my heart and it pains me that people can find in their hearts to hurt them. Thanks again for bringing awareness to this growing crime. Have a great week!
